Elizabeth Gutiérrez Opens Up About Split from William Levy: “I Gave Everything”
After two decades together, Elizabeth Gutiérrez has confirmed that she and William Levy have parted ways. In an interview with HOLA!, the Latin actress addressed the swirling rumors surrounding their relationship status.
Reflecting on their 20-year journey, Elizabeth expressed her enduring love for William, admitting that he was the love of her life. However, she revealed that they are currently not together, emphasizing that her decision was never due to a lack of love.
“I always bet on my relationship. I loved William, I think it’s no secret that he was the love of my life as I always bet and wanted to show us as we were,” she said, adding, “Currently, we are not together. On my part, it was never for lack of love.”
“I think I’m not the same girl I was 20 years ago when he met me. What we want at this moment is different. I will always love him, I will always wish him the best, and as I have always said, being with me or not, I want to see him happy,” she added.
Despite her deep affection for Levy, she acknowledged the need for change when certain things remain unchanged.
“There are things that, if they don’t change, you have to change. And that was the option I had to take,” she stated.
Addressing the possibility of reconciliation, the telenovela star surrendered the decision to a higher power, finding solace in her faith during challenging times. She likened her current state to being in the middle of the ocean, surviving and striving to move forward with grace.
“I really feel, at this moment, that I’m in the middle of the ocean, and I’m surviving. My children are at peace because William is an excellent father, and the love from both of us is not lacking, so they are fine and will be fine. Obviously, it wasn’t ideal for either of us, but things happen, and you have to move on. You have to show that even if you feel defeated in some way, you have to keep your head held high and move forward,” she shared.
She then went on to emphasize that their separation was not influenced by superficial reasons or external opinions, asserting her autonomy in making decisions.
“My decisions are my own. I make them, I know when, and that’s why maybe they see me at peace, happy, because I know I couldn’t give more, I gave everything,” she clarified.
Elizabeth and William’s union began in 2003 when they met on the reality show Protagonistas de novela 2. They tied the knot the same year and welcomed two children, Christopher and Kailey.
The confirmation of their separation follows recent incidents, including a domestic disturbance at their Florida residence.
