Ed Sheeran Says He’s Not Releasing New Music Soon: “Nothing’s Going To Come Out This Year”
Fans of Ed Sheeran might have to make do with his current releases for a while as he revealed this week that he will not be releasing any new music anytime soon. The renowned singer-songwriter, opened up about his upcoming music projects and life as a father in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE at the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation Gala on May 2.
Despite fans’ anticipation, Ed announced that his new music won’t be hitting the shelves this year.
“I’m working on them and they’re new songs,” he quipped, adding, “But nothing’s going to come out this year.”
The 33-year-old artist explained that he’s currently relishing his time on tour and wants to take a moment to enjoy the creative process before releasing new material.
In his words, “I’m enjoying being on tour. I released two records on tour last year and it’s quite a lot being on tour and releasing records. So, I’ve made the new music and I’m just going to sit on it for a bit.”
While discussing his family life, Ed revealed that his daughters, Lyra Antarctica, 3, and Jupiter, born in May 2022, are already showing a fondness for his music. “Yeah, of course, of course. Mostly my new songs because I don’t really play my old songs in the house,” he shared.
The Thinking Out Loud hitmaker elaborated that he prefers playing his new tracks around the house, creating a familiar and comfortable atmosphere for his children.
Reflecting on fatherhood, Sheeran acknowledged the profound impact it has had on his life. “Well, I became a dad and I feel like my lifestyle shift has changed. Instead of going to bed at six [a.m.], I’m getting up at four,” he shared in a previous interview.
Embracing the joys of parenthood, he highlighted how it has positively influenced his well-being and daily routine. “It just feels like what life was meant to be. It’s great. I’m healthier than I’ve ever been. I’m exercising every day … I’m spending so much time at home making the record. Yeah, I feel like a human being. It’s good,” he expressed.
