Corinne Foxx Cherishes Working With Her Energetic Dad Jamie Foxx On “Beat Shazam”
Corinne Foxx, daughter of the acclaimed Jamie Foxx, is relishing every moment of working alongside her father on the hit Fox competition series, “Beat Shazam.” At the 2024 Fox Upfront event in New York City on May 13, Corinne shared her excitement and gratitude for this unique experience.
“Oh my god, It’s so much fun working on Beat Shazam with my dad. He is a firecracker,” Corinne, 30, enthusiastically told PEOPLE. “He has more energy than I do; he doesn’t sleep. He’s on there singing and dancing — literally tap dancing. I’m just like, ‘I need another coffee.'”
Corinne teased fans about the upcoming season, promising an abundance of energy, singing, and captivating stories. “We have these amazing contestants who come from all walks of life, who really deserve the win, and when they do win, you really are rooting for them,” she said.
“And I’m usually crying every episode, so I’m sure you will be too,” she added.
Reflecting on their working relationship, Corinne expressed how blessed she feels to collaborate with her father. “I think we have that typical father-daughter relationship where you can poke fun at each other,” she admitted. “But at the end of the day, it’s all love, and it’s such a blessing to be able to work with a family member and go to work, and it feel like home.”
Jamie recently returned to the Beat Shazam stage with Corinne after a brief hiatus. The Oscar-winning Day Shift and Dreamgirls star had been hospitalized in April 2023 due to a “medical complication.” During his recovery, Nick Cannon and Kelly Osbourne stepped in to host the series temporarily.
Beat Shazam features teams of two who race against the clock and each other to identify the “biggest hit songs of all time,” vying for a $1 million prize. The team with the most money banked from the previous rounds faces off against Shazam, “the world’s most popular song identification app.”
