Ashanti And Nelly Share Heartwarming Mother’s Day Celebration Amid Pregnancy News
Ashanti and Nelly recently had an unforgettable Mother’s Day celebration, reflecting on the joy of their growing family. On May 16, the 43-year-old pregnant singer shared heartwarming photos on Instagram, featuring herself with her fiancé Nelly, 49, and their relatives. One standout photo showed Ashanti in a dress that gracefully covered her baby bump, while Nelly sported a casual gray sweatsuit.
“This Mother’s Day was so special,” Ashanti wrote in her post.
“Having our families together as we are about to embark on such an incredible journey was amazing. Wishing all of the amazing Moms and Moms-to-be a beautiful Mother’s Day…!!!! 😆😆😆😆❤️🙏🏽🥳 #grateful 🙏🏽🥰,” she continued before humorously adding, “Yeah yeah I know I’m late… it was so much food I got distracted 🤣🤣 Ps… I only had 1 plate tho 🤣🤣👀”
The couple’s excitement began in April when they announced they were expecting their first child together. Ashanti revealed the happy news in a playful Instagram video as she prepared for a performance. When her mom, Tina Douglas, asked how much time she needed, Ashanti cheekily responded, “Uh, I’m gonna need about nine months,” leaving her mom visibly shocked.
In addition to the pregnancy news, Ashanti shared with Essence that she and Nelly are also engaged. “This new year of my life is such a blessing full of love, hope, and anticipation. Motherhood is something that I have looked forward to, and sharing this with my family, fiancé, and loyal fans, who have been so supportive of my career, is an amazing experience,” she shared.
Later in April, Ashanti delighted fans with an Instagram video showcasing her baby bump in a stylish, form-fitting dress. The video included clips of her flaunting her chic maternity look, set to her song Sweet Baby. She captioned the video, “My sweet baby 🙏🏽 Well….. (Our) Sweet baby 🤣🤣😘 @nelly.”
Nelly, already a father to son Cornell III, 25, and daughter Chanelle, 30, has also been a father figure to his niece Sydney and nephew Shawn after the tragic loss of his sister, Jackie Donahue, to leukemia in 2005.
