Jessica Biel Reveals Why She And Justin Timberlake Embraced Quiet Family Life In Montana
Jessica Biel is enjoying life away from the spotlight with her husband, Justin Timberlake, and their children. The actress and author, 42, recently shared insights about their family’s move from Los Angeles to find “normalcy,” during an episode of SiriusXM’s Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa on May 22.
In bustling cities, Jessica found it challenging to go unnoticed, especially with their sons, Phineas, 3½, and Silas, 9.
“I don’t really think they necessarily respect that, you know, if we’re out and about with our kids,” she said, referring to fans and paparazzi.
“It can be somewhat country dependent, where if we’re in this country, in the States, it’s kind of like state by state. You get hammered on the East Coast, you kind of get hammered on the West Coast. That’s why we don’t really live there anymore,” she continued.
Jessica acknowledges that their work has “this major public-facing element,” but emphasizes the importance of creating normalcy for their children. “It’s just trying to create some normalcy for these kids, and we want to share our family with our loved ones and friends,” she stated.
Jessica and Justin want their kids to decide if they wish to live a life in the spotlight when they’re older. She understands the significance of social media in their lives but prefers it not to be through her account.
“We try to engage in a way that feels authentic,” she said, adding that it’s “just our family choice.”
In October 2021, Jessica and Justin listed their Hollywood Hills home for $35 million as they spent more time in Montana. “They’re rarely in L.A. and are happy to live in Montana,” a source told PEOPLE at the time. The couple also owned a 27-acre property in Tennessee, listed for $10 million in August 2023, though Jessica didn’t enjoy living in Nashville.
“Jessica never liked living in Nashville. They were trying to sell their Hollywood Hills house but took it off the market because she misses L.A. They just don’t think L.A. is great for the kids,” the source shared.
Records show the Southern California property was taken off the market in January 2022 and hasn’t been listed again.
Despite work commitments requiring frequent travel to Los Angeles, New York, and Nashville, the couple has made Montana their primary home. They’ve found a sanctuary in a secluded, luxurious gated community in Big Sky. Over the past eight years, local residents have noticed the couple embracing a cozy and quiet life away from the public eye.
