Cassie Thanks Supporters Amid Release of Brutal Diddy Assault Video by CNN
Cassie Ventura is speaking out for the first time about the abuse she allegedly experienced at the hands of then-boyfriend Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Here’s the message of gratitude she shared on Instagram on May 23: “Thank you for all of the love and support from my family, friends, strangers and those I have yet to meet. The outpouring of love has created a place for my younger self to settle and feel safe now, but this is only the beginning,” Ventura wrote.
The “Me & U” vocalist asserted that “Domestic Violence is THE issue.”
“It broke me down to someone I never thought I would become. With a lot of hard work, I am better today, but I will always be recovering from my past,” she added.
She thanked everyone who took the incident seriously and urged people to believe the victims when they share their story for the first time. She announced, “It takes a lot of heart to tell the truth out of a situation that you were powerless in.”
The Perfect Match actress also urged victims to reach out to their loved ones, as “No one should carry this weight alone.”
“This healing journey is never ending but this support means everything to me. Thank you. Love Always,” she concluded.
The 37-year-old received comments of support from her fans, friends, and followers.
One social media user wrote, “We LOVE you and you were so brave to do this. You encouraged so many survivors to speak up. This was a cleanse.”
Another added, “You have made so many people feel safer and stronger. From another survivor—thank you, your bravery means the world and may you stay protected and happy for the rest of your days. We love you💗💗💗💗.”
Her post comes days after CNN published a video showing Diddy assaulting the singer in what appears to be the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, LA. He can be seen grabbing, punching, and kicking Cassie before throwing a glass vase at her. It seemingly confirms what the singer has alleged in her bombshell 35-page lawsuit.
The disgraced movie mogul shared an apology video shortly after.
“It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that,” the Bad Boy Records founder shared in an Instagram post. “My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I was disgusted then when I did it. I’m disgusted now,” he confessed.
The 54-year-old record executive also shared that he sought professional help for his issues. “I got into going to therapy, going to rehab… I’m committed to being a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m truly sorry.”
However, Combs previously denied all accusations.
“Sickening allegations have been made against me by individuals looking for a quick payday,” he wrote on IG at the time. “Let me be absolutely clear: I did not do any of the awful things being alleged. I will fight for my name, my family, and for the truth.”
