Nicki Minaj Apologizes To Fans After Amsterdam Arrest Drama Disrupts Concert
Nicki Minaj, the queen of rap, has issued an apology to her fans in Amsterdam after a dramatic series of events led to the cancellation of her concert there. The 41-year-old rapper was taken into police custody in the Netherlands for allegedly carrying drugs, an incident she recorded and shared with her fans.
Nicki, visibly shaken, addressed her fans outside her hotel in Manchester, England, where she expressed her deep regret over the canceled show. “I love you, and I’m so sorry this happened tonight,” she said in a heartfelt video shared by a fan on social media.
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), the Anaconda hitmaker thanked her fans for their support and prayers, writing, “May God cover you & all that is connected to you. May you be blessed beyond your imagination.”
She went on to explain the chaotic circumstances surrounding her arrest and subsequent release.
“After sitting in a jail cell for 5-6 hours, my plane still didn’t take off for another 20 minutes once I boarded. The flight was 50 minutes. 50 minutes,” she wrote.
Elaborating on the challenges she faced trying to make it to her performance, despite the delays, she continued, “That’s why they had to do the big song & dance b/c they knew I’d still find a way to perform even if it came down to my last 90 mins in the building which would have been until 11:30pm. The building was willing to go past 11pm. So grateful to them for that.”
Nicki went on to accuse certain individuals of trying to sabotage her Pink Friday 2 World Tour. “So they succeeded at their plan to not let me get on that stage tonight. I succeeded @ getting to the root of it all by recording them & posting everything in real time. I have sooooooooo much video evidence. You wouldn’t believe it if I told you. I’ll have the lawyers & GOD take it from here tho,” she said.
“They’ve been doing this over & over & over again & I’ve tried so hard to not discuss it b/c you guys deserve to just get the good stuff. I hate involving you in anything that isn’t for entertainment purposes only,” she added.
Despite the ordeal, Nicki promised her fans she would make it up to them. “I’ll find a way to not only make up the date with the performance but I’m going to create an added bonus for everyone that had a ticket for this show. Promise.”
She reassured fans that her upcoming shows in Birmingham and Manchester would proceed as planned.
The drama unfolded as Minaj recorded her arrest on Instagram Live, which was later shared by a fan account on X. The video showed Dutch police officers telling her she was “under arrest” for “carrying drugs” and instructing her to get into a van to go to the police station. In another video, the rapper confronted a man in a suit, who explained that officers wanted to search her luggage again because she had filmed the police.
In a series of posts on May 25, Nicki also suggested the arrest was part of a larger scheme to disrupt her tour. In her words: “They’re being paid big money to try to sabotage my tour b/c soooooo many ppl are mad that it’s this successful & they can’t eat off me. They got caught stealing money from my travel/jets. Got fired. Got mad. Etc.”
