Tina Knowles Reveals Beyoncé Got Bullied Growing Up
Tina Knowles took a nostalgic trip down memory lane in an emotional interview with Vogue, sharing some of her favorite memories of her daughters Beyoncé, Solange, and Kelly Rowland. During the interview, which she posted on her Instagram page on May 26, Tina opened up about the special moments that made her proud as a mother.
“Each child is different! But all so special,” Tina wrote in the caption of her video. “I believe kids are born with their personalities. My three girls all handled things very differently.” She emphasized the importance of recognizing and respecting their individuality, never comparing negatives but always praising their unique qualities.
In the video, Tina stated, “Beyoncé, she was very shy and she got bullied a bit but the day that she stood up for someone — she didn’t stand up for herself she stood up for them. I’m getting emotional talking about it. I was just, I couldn’t have been more proud of her.”
Tina, 70, who shares Beyoncé, 42, and Solange, 37, with her ex-husband Mathew Knowles, also recalled a memorable moment with her younger daughter. “Solange, was her signing a petition in school, she was only in like fifth grade and she was out getting petitions signed. So she’s always been an activist,” she recounted with pride.
Kelly Rowland, whom Tina often refers to as her third daughter, joined the family at the age of 11. Earlier this month on Today with Hoda & Jenna, Tina fondly remembered, “Kelly was always this kid that tried to protect everybody. I have a memory of her being a mediator with her best friend Barbara, just being this little peacemaker.”
Rowland, now 43, faced the tragic loss of her mother, Doris Rowland Garrison, who passed away in December 2014 at the age of 66. Despite the hardships, Kelly remained a constant source of support and love in the Knowles family.
Beyoncé shares daughter Blue Ivy, 12, and twins Rumi and Sir, 6, with husband JAY-Z. Solange is the mother of 19-year-old son Daniel ‘Juelz’ Smith Jr., with her ex-husband Daniel Smith.
In the caption of her video, Tina concluded, “Learn their personalities and respect the individuality. Never compare the negatives , always praise the positive differences and pay attention to the things that you can brag on about them. They love it and it encourages positive behavior .
