Shania Twain Laughs Off Onstage Blunder And Thrills Fans In Las Vegas Residency
Shania Twain, the iconic country music star, recently had a hilarious mishap during a performance, showing that even the biggest stars can have their funny moments. On Sunday, June 2, Shania shared a video of herself onstage, where she accidentally sang into a drumstick instead of her microphone during her hit song “If You’re Not in It for Love.”
In the video, Shania, 51, got so into her performance that she brought the drumstick to her mouth instead of the mic. Realizing her mistake, she burst into laughter, exclaiming, “Oh my God! That was hilarious,” before continuing the song seamlessly. She reposted a fan’s TikTok video of the moment on her Instagram, captioning it, “I’m really glad somebody captured this moment, it’s made me laugh all over again 😂.”
This light-hearted incident is just one highlight of Shania’s current Las Vegas residency, Come on Over, at Planet Hollywood’s Bakkt Theater, which kicked off on May 10. On opening night, she connected deeply with the audience, even sharing a personal story about losing her virginity at 15. “I’m comfortable with the environment and I feel friendly with everybody, so I feel at home,” she told PEOPLE the following day.
Shania expressed her joy about the start of her residency, saying, “I’m not just relieved, I’m really happy. I was really able to enjoy the adrenaline, because adrenaline can also throw you off.”
The From This Moment singer is known for her vibrant fashion and fun wigs, and she’s loving seeing her audience’s fashion choices too. “I’m enjoying it. I’m enjoying fashion. I’m enjoying watching the audience wear the fashion. It was really fun,” she said.
She shared her delight in seeing fans dressed up, saying, “I see people wearing things, even just from recent things. They come with colored hair and it makes me smile, makes me happy because they’re in the spirit and so we’re all in one spirit, especially in a room like this. It’s very intimate. It’s informal, and I really feel comfortable.”
In August 2023, Shania told PEOPLE that her current residency, which runs through December 2024, would be reminiscent of her highly engaging and energetic “Let’s Go” residency show which was held from 2019 to 2022.
