Justin Timberlake Arrested For DWI In Sag Harbor
Justin Timberlake, 43, has been arrested for driving while intoxicated in the upscale vacation spot of Sag Harbor in the Hamptons. The Mirrors singer was taken into police custody on the morning of June 18, according to a representative from the Sag Harbor Police Department.
The police department plans to release a formal statement later today, but sources have confirmed to PEOPLE that Justin was arrested on DWI charges after having dinner at the American Hotel in Sag Harbor.
Justin’s mugshot was released hours after his arraignment, and he has since been let out of police custody. According to the police report obtained by PEOPLE, the singer “performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests” during his arrest. The report also noted that his “eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, and he was unsteady afoot.”
The incident began when Justin, driving a 2025 BMW, failed to stop at a stop sign and was pulled over by a police officer. During the stop, the officer determined that he was operating his vehicle while intoxicated. He, however, claimed to have only had “one martini” and refused a breathalyzer test.
“Upon investigation, it was determined that Mr. Timberlake was operating his vehicle in an intoxicated condition,” a press release from the Sag Harbor Village Police Department stated, adding, “Mr. Timberlake was placed under arrest, processed, and held overnight for morning arraignment. Mr. Timberlake was arraigned at the Sag Harbor Village Justice Court on June 18, 2024, at 9:30 AM where he was released on his own recognizance.”
During his court appearance at the Sag Harbor Village Justice Court, Justin was accompanied by an attorney and two other individuals. He was handcuffed in court, wearing a black bowling shirt, light jeans, and white and baby blue Air Force 1s. His cuffs were removed after the arraignment. He also had sunglasses and a hat on.
A source told PEOPLE that he was leaving dinner at the popular American Hotel in Sag Harbor and heading to a friend’s house when he was pulled over. It also happened to be the day his wife Jessica Biel was filming her new Prime Video series, The Better Sister, with Elizabeth Banks in New York City’s Central Park.
The Cry Me A River singer is scheduled to make his next appearance in court on July 26.
