Goldie Hawn Dreams Of A Family Movie Project: “It Would Be So Fun”
Goldie Hawn has an exciting idea for her next project. During her appearance on the June 19 episode of SiriusXM’s “Let’s Talk Off Camera” with Kelly Ripa, the 78-year-old actress shared her desire to make a movie with her talented family.
“What I would love, actually, before we all get, you know, too old, [it] would be so great to do a movie together. Wouldn’t it? It would be so fun and so crazy and oh my God.” Goldie enthusiastically said.
Kelly Ripa, the host of the show, pitched the idea of a Thanksgiving dinner-themed reality series involving Goldie’s kids. Goldie, however, has her sights set on a film project.
“It’s all about a writer,” she explained when Kelly asked why the family hasn’t embarked on a movie together already.
“I have to get permission first from my family,” she added.
Kelly jokingly suggested a sneaky approach: invite the family to a party and reveal it’s actually the first scene of the movie.
“Here’s how it goes: You tell them you’re having a party for Kurt [Russell]. What they don’t realize is it’s a party scene for the opening of the movie, so they just all arrive and then after the first scene is shot, surprise, surprise. You pitch the idea for the movie and you’ve already got the opening scene in the can. They can’t argue with it. The establishing scene has happened,” she proposed.
Laughing at the idea, Goldie admitted, “Oh my god. It’s really true though. It’s a mess. It would be a mess.”
Despite the chaos, Goldie hinted at a real project in the works: “We might do something with Oliver that is a cartoon, so in other words, we would all be the voices of that. That would be a lot of fun.”
Goldie has been in a relationship with actor Kurt Russell since 1983, and together they share four children, three of whom are active in the film and television industry. This includes 45-year-old Kate Hudson and 47-year-old Oliver Hudson, from Goldie’s previous marriage to Bill Hudson, and 37-year-old Wyatt Russell, whom Goldie and Kurt welcomed together. Goldie is also a stepmom to Kurt’s oldest son, 44-year-old Boston, from his previous marriage to Season Hubley.
Goldie’s appearance on Kelly’s podcast was part of a two-part interview. In the first segment released on June 12, she talked about the dynamics with her children, revealing that her daughter Kate “thinks Oliver’s my favorite.”
“I tried to say to her, ‘You know, nobody’s really my favorite. … You’re all different. But the truth is … [your] firstborn is always one of the most interesting and memorable experiences, particularly because you don’t have other children. You only have one — until you have the second one,” the actress explained.
