Michael Easton Bids Farewell To “General Hospital” After A Decade
After a memorable decade, Michael Easton, known for his roles as Hamilton Finn and others, is saying goodbye to General Hospital. The 57-year-old actor expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the show’s cast, crew, and fans in a touching video posted on Instagram on June 26, just a day before his final episode aired.
In his video message, Michael shared, “I’ve always been partial to the Irish goodbye, where you leave the party without actually telling anyone you’re gone. But I thought you all deserved better, so I just wanted to let you know that I just filmed my final scenes here at General Hospital.”
Reflecting on his time on the show, he continued, “I’ve loved every minute that I’ve been here. I want to thank the entire cast and crew for allowing me to share their stage this past 10 years. Most importantly, I want to thank all of you for the kindness and love you’ve shown me and my family. I won’t ever forget you. And as I walk out here for the last time, and with apologies to the great Lou Gehrig, I feel like the luckiest man on the face of the Earth.”
Accompanying the video was a brief caption that read, “Thank you for your kindness. My heart is filled with love and gratitude. #gh #goodbye”
Michael joined General Hospital in 2012, coming from One Life to Live, where he played John McBain. During his tenure on GH, he appeared in over 940 episodes, becoming a beloved fixture on the show.
As Michael exits, the show is welcoming back some familiar faces. Five-time Daytime Emmy winner Jonathan Jackson will step back into his role as Lucky Spencer, and Bryan Craig is set to return as Morgan Corinthos for an episode in August. Additionally, Steve Burton, who plays Jason Morgan, returned to the show earlier this year after his character was presumed dead.
Steve’s return was first announced in January during ABC’s primetime special, General Hospital: 60 Years of Stars & Storytelling. In a pre-recorded clip, the actor teased, “Happy anniversary, General Hospital. Stay tuned. Big things are coming to Port Charles.”
In a behind-the-scenes video posted to the Daily Drama’s YouTube channel in early February, Steve shared his excitement about returning to the set, saying, “We’re getting ready to shoot right now. This story is going to be sick. It’s gonna be awesome. So, make sure you keep watching, because the pieces of the puzzle are gonna be fit for when I return.”
