Camila Cabello Opens Up About “Havana” And “Señorita” Fatigue
Camila Cabello, the 27-year-old pop sensation, recently shared her thoughts on her musical journey in an exclusive interview with Complex. The Shameless singer opened up about her mixed feelings towards two of her biggest hits, Havana (2018) and Señorita (2019).
Camila admitted that while she’s grateful for the success of both songs, she’s more tired of hearing Señorita than she is of Havana.
“I think there’s always a worry when a song becomes so massive that it’s going to be bigger than you… I obviously love that they were so massive and successful. But it does get people attached to you in a certain light,” she explained.
Reflecting on Señorita, which she performed with ex-boyfriend Shawn Mendes, Camila said, “I was in a really public relationship and as a woman you’re like, I don’t want this couple thing to be my new identity.”
Amidst reflecting on her past, Camila is looking forward with excitement as she prepares to release her fourth album, C,XOXO. She announced the album on social media in May with a vibrant post: “THE NEW ALBUM C,XOXO IS OUT JUNE 28TH.”
Accompanying the post was the LP’s cover featuring a close-up of her licking a lollipop that turned her tongue blue.
This new album follows her previous releases: Camila (2018), Romance (2019), and Familia (2022).
Kicking off her new era in March, Camila surprised fans with an electro-pop track, I Luv It, featuring rapper Playboi Carti, and flaunted a bold platinum blonde hairstyle. She continued to captivate her audience with collaborations like He Knows with Lil Nas X and her most recent single, Chanel No. 5.
Discussing Chanel No. 5, Camila shared how it fits into the overall theme of C, XOXO. “the world of C, XOXO is a very sensual one , and in the root meaning sense of that word. sensual meaning “of the senses”- taste, touch, sight, smell, sound,” she wrote, adding, “and most of all, i want us to feel powerful when we are seen, heard, touched, inhaled, and tasted that wrist wrist spritz spritz made him come alive Chanel n. 5.”
The pop star considers Chanel No. 5 her special gift to fans ahead of her album’s release on Friday, June 28. With this new chapter, Camila aims to redefine her identity and artistry.
