Ciara Says “Altar” Remix With Hulvey Is One Of Her Favorite Features
Ciara and Hulvey have teamed up to spread love and hope through their new musical collaboration. The pop/R&B icon, 38, and the Christian rapper, 25, recently released a remix of Hulvey’s inspiring track Altar on June 21. Ciara calls this one of her “favorite” collaborations of all time.
Ciara, already a fan of Altar, was thrilled when Hulvey’s team reached out to her.
“I was already a big fan of ‘Altar’ before Hulvey asked me to join him. I was honestly obsessed with this song. I used it for my Easter post and Hulvey’s team reached out shortly after!” she told PEOPLE.
Eager to contribute, Ciara headed to the studio to record her verse, where she expresses gratitude for God’s blessings and guidance.
“God, thank You for all of the blessings / God, You’re the only one that I’m reppin’,” the Body Party harmonizes on the track, adding, “When the days I’m feeling down and the nights I’m stressed out / God, I just come talk to you with a prayer.”
For Ciara, participating in this powerful song was a way to use her platform to uplift and encourage listeners. “It was really important to me to be able to use my platform to share this song, because I believe songs like ‘Altar’ have the opportunity to inspire, instill hope in people, and spread love!” she shared.
“This is honestly one my favorite features I’ve ever been a part of!” she added.
Working with Hulvey has been a joy for Ciara. “Working together with Hulvey has been pure fun! It’s so cool that we’re both from Georgia also! Hulvey’s really passionate about his art and music, which I love and respect. I truly believe Hulvey is going to continue to make more great music that will inspire so many!” she stated.
Hulvey, equally excited about the collaboration, shared his admiration for Ciara. Speaking to PEOPLE, he said, “It’s honestly just really humbling to do this remix with [her]. Her heart to spread hope and the sound she brings just makes it so special.”
“Seeing an artist at her level be so humble was genuinely so inspiring to me. I’m just a kid from South Georgia who would’ve never thought in a million years he’d have a song with such an incredible artist. The fact we get to spread hope to the world TOGETHER with this song is the most beautiful part,” he added.
Currently, Ciara is on the road with longtime friend and collaborator Missy Elliott for the Out of This World – The Missy Elliott Experience tour, which kicked off in Vancouver, B.C., on Thursday, July 4. The tour, featuring Timbaland and Busta Rhymes, comes nearly a year after Ciara released her seventh studio album, CiCi.
Hulvey, who last released an album in 2021 titled Coma, followed up with a four-track EP called Perry Lane Pack last November. His collaboration with Ciara on Altar is just the latest step in his rising career.
