Tiffany Haddish’s Online Used Panty Scam
American comedian and actress Tiffany Haddish admitted that she used to sell her used panties online to help make ends meet. But here’s the punchline: Haddish would tell people they belonged to famous actress Halle Berry.
The stand-up performer hilariously described her MO in this week’s podcast episode of We Playin’ Spades. According to the Girls Trip actress, she would post ads on Craigslist posing as Berry’s housekeeper.
“I would say that my name was Rosalinda, and I was a housekeeper for Halle Berry and I have some of her dirty panties,” she narrated.
Each transaction would make her $300 though the star didn’t mention how profitable the scam was.
“You Look Just Like Halle Berry”
Before fame and fortune found her, Haddish said that people often told her that she resembled the famous Berry. And, of course, she enjoyed it.
“When I was young, people used to be like, ‘You look just like Halle Berry—out of Losing Isaiah,” Haddish recounted in a 2017 interview with Vanity Fair. “I don’t care; she was still beautiful in that movie! And I used to use her name to get into clubs. I used to be like, ‘Halle Berry’s my auntie.”
Selling Used Panties for a Good Cause
That wasn’t the only time when selling used panties occurred to the comedian. The 44-year-old revealed last April that she was raising funds for the She Ready Foundation, a nonprofit that helps foster children. In a video obtained by Livebitez, she said that she was willing to do anything to support the organization, including selling her panties.
“I could sell them drawers. That’s what I should do. I should sell them panties. That’ll be a lot of money for the foundation,” she said humorously.
She also commented that she could clean half her bedroom simply by washing her clothes and cleaning out her closet. “Imma wash all my clothes today … I got so many clothes I could probably go six months without washing my clothes,” Haddish quipped.
“That’s how many pairs of underwear I got. I need to get rid of all that stuff!”
Tiffany Haddish rose to fame in 2017 when she starred in Girls Trip, a comedy-drama about four friends who reconnect after spending a weekend in New Orleans together. Her portrayal allowed her to become part of The New Yorker’s list of the 21st century’s best film performances. Meanwhile, Time magazine declared her one of the most influential people in the world in 2018.
