TLC Cancels Shows As T-Boz Faces New Health Scare
TLC fans were met with disappointing news as the iconic music group had to cancel several shows following Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins’ recent health scare. The singer, known for her powerful voice and as one-third of the legendary group, is currently dealing with a serious medical condition.
In a statement shared on TLC’s Instagram Stories on August 24, T-Boz and her bandmate, Rozanda “Chilli” Thomas, revealed the troubling details. According to the team members, T-Boz, 54, experienced a sudden bout of severe nausea, vomiting, and intense abdominal cramps shortly after their performance in Toledo, Ohio, on August 22.
Following the performance, T-Boz was immediately examined by a doctor who diagnosed her with an abdominal blockage, a condition that required urgent medical attention. Due to the severity of her symptoms, she was advised to cancel upcoming shows, including their performance at the New York State Fair in Syracuse on,August 23, and another at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut, on August 24.
“Tionne deeply regrets having to cancel these shows and extends her sincere apologies to all her fans and the event promoters,” the group shared in their statement.
They emphasized that the decision was made under strict medical advice, as T-Boz was required to stay in the hospital overnight to undergo a CT scan to assess her condition. The singer was expected to be released from the hospital by August 25.
Despite the setback, TLC assured fans that they are committed to rescheduling the canceled shows and expressed gratitude for the continued support and understanding. “TLC is committed to rescheduling the canceled shows and apologizes to all the fans, particularly those who traveled long distances to attend. The group appreciates the understanding and support,” the statement concluded.
This latest health issue comes just three months after the group had to cancel Canadian tour dates in May due to illness. At the time, T-Boz and several crew members were battling the flu, which led to her losing her voice. However, the resilient singer made a strong comeback, and TLC returned to the stage in Lincoln, California, in June.
TLC’s legacy remains strong, and their fans are hopeful for T-Boz’s quick recovery. The group, which once included the late rapper Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, who tragically passed away in 2002, continues to be celebrated for their impact on the music industry. Most recently, T-Boz and Chilli were honored with a Landmark Award at the 2024 iHeartRadio Awards in Los Angeles.
