Adele Announces Hiatus: “I Will Not See You For An Incredibly Long Time”
Adele has announced that she’ll be stepping away from the spotlight for an extended period after her Las Vegas residency concludes in November. During a recent concert in Munich, the 36-year-old singer known for her powerful voice and heartfelt ballads shared the news with her fans, letting them know that a long hiatus is on the horizon.
In a video that’s been circulating on TikTok, Adele addressed her audience with a heartfelt message: “I have 10 shows to do, but after that, I will not see you for an incredibly long time, and I will hold you dear in my heart.”
This announcement has left many fans feeling both saddened and understanding, as they know Adele’s pattern of taking time off between projects to recharge and create.
Adele’s final 10 performances of her “Weekends with Adele” residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace will run from October 25 to November 23. This residency, which began in November 2022, has been a major highlight for fans, but all good things must come to an end.
Adele had originally planned to wrap up the residency earlier this year, but had to postpone some dates in March due to vocal strain. “Sadly I have to take a beat and pause my Vegas residency,” she explained at the time, citing illness.
“I was sick at the end of the last leg and all the way through my break,” she added.
Before heading back to Las Vegas, the Hello hitmaker wrapped up her Munich residency on August 31, marking her first performances in mainland Europe since 2016. The Munich residency ran from August 2 to August 31 at the open-air venue Messe München, drawing fans from across the continent.
As for what’s next, Adele has made it clear that new music isn’t on the immediate horizon. In an interview with German outlet ZDF earlier this summer, she shared that she has no plans to release new material anytime soon. In her own words: “I don’t have any plans for new music, at all.”
Hinting at a desire to explore different avenues outside of music, she added, “I want a big break after this and I think I want to do other creative things, just for a little while.”
In addition to her career news, Adele also sparked excitement and speculation when she hinted at her engagement to sports executive Rich Paul. During a concert, a fan proposed to Adele, to which she responded, “I can’t marry you because I’m already getting married.”
The couple, who were first spotted together at an NBA Finals game in July 2021, have been the subject of engagement rumors for some time, and Adele’s comment seemed to confirm the news.
