Bruce Springsteen Has Been “Supportive” And “Available,” Jeremy Allen White Says On His Upcoming Biopic On The Grammy-Winning Artist
Jeremy Allen White is gearing up for the role of a lifetime and it’s got Bruce Springsteen’s full seal of approval! Fresh off his win for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for The Bear, the 33-year-old actor sat down to talk about his next major endeavor: playing the iconic rock legend in the upcoming biopic Deliver Me from Nowhere.
Speaking in the press room following the 2024 Emmys on Sunday, Sept. 15, Jeremy exclaimed on the film, “I’m pretty excited to start this thing. We’re going to start it pretty soon.”
But much to the chagrin of fans, the actor remained tight-lipped on any other details, stating it feels “wrong” to reveal too much just yet before the cameras roll.
What he did confirm, though, is just how solid the support system he has behind him is – starting with Bruce himself.
“Bruce has been really lovely and supportive and available, which has made this whole process I think such an extra joy that we have his support and Jon Landau – his manager’s — support, who has a large role in the film, as well. So I feel really lucky, and yeah, we’re getting there,” Jeremy stated.
The film Deliver Me from Nowhere is the movie adaptation of Warren Zanes’s 2023 book, about the making of Bruce’s 1982 album Nebraska. That raw, stripped-down album marked a pivot in Bruce’s career, exposing deep personal turmoil and capturing the mood of a troubled America.
According to Warren, Nebraska also marked the early stages of Springsteen’s mental struggles, something he would only begin discussing openly decades later.
He recorded Nebraska solo while he was simultaneously working on other projects, including the smash hit album from 1984 with the E Street Band, Born in the U.S.A. While that album rocketed him to worldwide fame, Nebraska is a much quieter, introspective piece of work that still manages to speak to fans.
In fact, Jeremy’s impersonation as The Boss is being highly talked about, more so as Bruce and his manager Landau are highly involved in the production of the biopic.
“…I feel really lucky, and yeah, we’re getting there,” Jeremy added of how work on the biopic has been.
The project first hit the headlines in March when it was reported Jeremy was in line to play Bruce. Now, with that Emmy win adding to the fervor, fans are all but salivating at the prospect of this Bear star transformation into one of rock’s biggest legends.
This is not Bruce’s first foray into the movies. He won an Academy Award for his 1994 song Streets of Philadelphia, written for the movie Philadelphia. Now, audiences are clamoring to watch how this next stage in his career unfolds on film as Jeremy takes up a much heavier burden of portraying him.
