Christina Aguilera And Sabrina Carpenter Tease New Music Together In Playful Social Media Post
Christina Aguilera and Sabrina Carpenter have teamed up for a collaboration, and the announcement is, well, pretty dramatic. The 43-year-old and 25-year-old singers, respectively, hit up social media on September 18 to share the more light-hearted and playful teaser, in which Sabrina referred to Christina as her “mom.”
Seated beside each other on a couch, Sabrina lip-plays audio of Kylie Jenner talking about her mom, Kris Jenner. As the camera pans on Christina, the playful dialogue suggests that
Sabrina is Christina’s favorite.
In the sound Sabrina lip-synced to, Kylie was saying, “I’m obsessed with my mom.”
“So you’re saying you’re her favorite,” a voice asked in the audio.
In response, Kylie said, “That’s exactly what I’m saying. I’m her favorite. We actually have a relationship like she has no other kids. Yeah.”
The What a Girl Wants singer, full of life, only captioned the video with a simple, Obsessed, but that was enough to keep the buzz going for their upcoming collaboration.
The moment comes as Christina prepares to mark the 25th anniversary of her debut album Christina Aguilera, which came out in 1999. On September 23, she is set to release live versions of some tracks in the album as part of Spotify’s Anniversaries series.
In addition to her solo performances, she will also perform duets with Sabrina and Machine Gun Kelly on remixed singles, providing the audience with a new light on some of her classic hits.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, she said, “I’ve always enjoyed reimagining my songs with different styles and audiences, as well as playing with sounds and arrangements that showcase how all music can be timeless.”
Christina’s self-titled debut album was a huge success, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and launching three No. 1 singles: Genie in a Bottle, What a Girl Wants, and Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You). With her Spotify series and exciting new collaborations, she is once again showing her ability to connect with both longtime fans and new audiences alike.
