Lala Kent Reveals Daughter Sosa’s Birth Was Complicated By Amniotic Fluid Issues
Lala Kent recently shared the complications she encountered while her daughter, Sosa, was born in a podcast, Give Them Lala. The Vanderpump Rules alum, who is now a mother of two, welcomed her daughter on September 3rd, but the baby girl wasn’t born without her birth complications.
Lal said she was in labor, which really just flew by, and then all of a sudden the doctor discovered that her cord was around her neck.
“The cord was wrapped around her neck a couple of times. [The doctor] stayed calm because I could see that something was wrong but he didn’t let me know,” she recounted, adding that she immediately knew something was not right.
“She goes out and I go to embrace my baby but she does one cry and then it stops. And my hands are freezing so I’m like, ‘I’m not touching her because I don’t want to send her into shock,’” Lala continued, adding, “It was great that she came out so quickly because I didn’t have to push very many times. But with a fast birth like that, she swallowed a lot of amniotic fluid. She had so much fluid in her that she was vomiting all the food out.”
According to the reality star, the obstetricians and nurses suctioned amniotic fluid from Sosa’s mouth while she lay frozen in bed.
When Sosa’s symptoms worsened – her body had taken on a purplish hue – she was seen by a specialist. Doctors were able to drain a liter and a half of the fluid from her stomach and nose, but more just leaked in.
According to her, the physicians were discussing whether Sosa would have to have pediatric surgery or be transferred to the NICU. Thankfully, she didn’t need surgery, and is now fully recovered.
Lala was also thrilled to say since being home, her newborn has already gained a pound in her first week.
This week, Lala took to Instagram to share the first full-faced photo of Sosa, coupled with an equally as cute snap of big sister Ocean holding her new baby sister.
