Rory Feek Responds To Public Fallout Amid Family Dispute Over Youngest Daughter Indiana
Rory Feek addressed his family feud over the well-being of his youngest daughter, Indiana after his older daughters, Heidi and Hopie, recently filed court action against him.
The 59-year-old country crooner updated fans via a blog post recently, saying, “My attempt at reconciliation didn’t go as I had hoped it would.”
The girls have accused their father of “unnecessarily limiting and restricting” their contact with Indiana and exposing her to “unnecessary harm,” but the specifics remain sealed since Indiana is still a minor.
In his blogpost, Rory spoke about his family’s imperfections and how there was some incomplete business between him and the older girls. “There are things that my older daughters and I need to work out together. Right now we’re at an impasse on how that’s ever going to happen,” he wrote.
He remembered that recent excursion into Alabama, where he wanted to reach out to Heidi and Hopie with a listening ear to hear their issues and extend love.
According to him, nobody answered the door, despite his girls’ cars being in the driveway. In his words: “[I had] hopes that we might be able to sit down and talk, or better yet, I’d just sit and listen to whatever they wanted to say and maybe have the chance to give them a hug and at least try to show them how much I love them. But even though their cars were in the driveway and they were inside, no one answered.”
Rory said he had left flowers of peace lilies on the stoop; afterward, Heidi reportedly messaged him that they would have contact with him only if a therapist or attorney was present in the room.
He added that Heidi and Dillon explained later that this unannounced visit felt intimidating to them; for Hopie, it triggered anxiety. According to him, they made it clear that communication boundaries were outlined for them, and this visit did not meet those guidelines.
He even cited in his post that the publicization of the family’s dispute had canceled several of his events and writing jobs. He mentioned, despite the aforesaid fact, that he doesn’t feel “canceled” but is enjoying his life with his wife Rebecca and Indiana.
Heidi fired back with an open letter citing their father had been unreachable for the last several months, and explained a third-party mediator was necessary due to Rory supposedly telling the sisters he was “done being their father.”
She also told a different story about Rory’s visit, explaining that only her husband and sister Hopie, who had a panic attack when she realized Rory was there, were home. According to Heidi, Dillon went to answer the door after a four-minute call to Heidi and their lawyer. However, Rory had left.
Talking down the visit, Heidi stated, “Regardless of the intention, it came off as intimidating. We’ve set really clear boundaries. We have such a hard time communicating with him and feeling heard that we really don’t feel like it’s possible without a third party. [Visiting] was never for us, because if he was trying to reach us, he would do it in the way that we’ve requested of him, or at least text us and say, ‘Hey, I’m coming.’”
