Lizzo Shuts Down Ozempic Rumors, Showcases Fitness Journey
HumorLizzo is putting rumors to rest while proudly sharing her personal fitness journey. The Grammy-winning artist, 36, responded to a follower on Instagram who questioned whether she was using Ozempic, a prescription medication for type 2 diabetes often associated with weight loss.
In true Lizzo style, she tackled the comment with humor and confidence. On September 20, she posted a carousel of herself smiling for the camera with a playful caption: “When you finally get Ozempic allegations after 5 months of weight training and calorie deficit.”
The clip was set to a viral TikTok audio of Christoph Waltz’s character from Django Unchained, cheekily saying, “It’s like a reward.”
Lizzo didn’t stop there. She shared a screenshot of another fan’s bizarre comment asking, “Did she use Ozempic or did she snort coke?”
Clearly amused, the singer captioned it: “‘oZeMpIc oR cOkE?’ – a fan 😭😭😭😭” and humorously replied to the follower, asking, “Whyyyy do u follow me?😭😭😭😭.”
For months now, Lizzo has been giving fans glimpses into her workout routine, part of what she’s calling her “gap year.” Whether it’s arm exercises at the gym or jumping rope on a balcony, the Juice singer has been focused on staying active and strong.
On September 19, she took to TikTok to show her transformation, proudly wearing her shapewear brand Yitty and captioning the video, “Fine both ways 😮💨.” She paired the clip with a viral Nicki Minaj soundbite declaring, “The fact that you would even discuss my looks is insane. I’m a bad bitch, always been a bad bitch.”
Lizzo isn’t just working out for her physical health — she’s been open about how exercise has helped her mentally, too. Last month, she shared an empowering message with her followers: “If you’re reading this… remember you can do ANYTHING you put ur mind to! Stay focused, you got this 💪🏾.”
In May, the Truth Hurts singer emphasized that her fitness journey is about so much more than weight loss. As she explained in a TikTok clip, escaping fatness is not the goal.
She revealed that she began working out for her mental health, and the benefits have shifted her mindset. “I have a very high-performance job,” Lizzo said, pointing out that her on-stage performances demand an immense amount of physical endurance.
“For 90 minutes a night, I have to do choreography, I have to sing, I have to dance, I have to rap and I have to play the flute. And I have to emote, and hype a crowd in very tight clothes, sometimes clothes where it restricts my breathing,” she explained further, adding, “It’s fun. I love my job. But it takes a lot of physical endurance to do what I do, and I used to be very rockstar lifestyle, used to throw myself around on the stage.”
As she became more professional in her career, she began to take the physical aspect of her life more seriously; hence the exercising.
