Why Jenny McCarthy Had To Ditch Her Wedding Dress After A Romantic Garden Mishap
Jenny McCarthy is opening up about a rather unforgettable (and amusing) wedding day memory. After tying the knot with actor Donnie Wahlberg back in 2014, Jenny had to part ways with her wedding dress for a very unusual reason — and it’s hilariously TMI.
The Masked Singer host shared the juicy details with PEOPLE, laughing as she recalled what went down: “Well, we slipped out into the garden during our wedding and kind of got busy in the garden. It got covered with grass stains!”
At 51, the Formless Beauty founder has no regrets about that romantic moment, but the dress? It was beyond saving. “There was no salvaging it,” she stated, adding, “And I know that was TMI, but you know what? I don’t care. It was romantic and wonderful, and at least I didn’t have to do it at the end of the night when I was tired.”
Since their wedding, Jenny and Donnie, 55, have made a yearly tradition of renewing their vows. Jenny used to think the idea of vow renewals was, well, cheesy. “I used to make fun of celebrities, or people in general when they’d renew their vows. I’m like, ‘That’s so corny and weird. Your wedding’s over. Just stay married.’”
But Donnie had other ideas. “He’s like, ‘I want to remind each other of our vows’… like our pastor reminisces about the year and gives us something to think about as the year goes on. So, there is something nice about it,” Jenny admitted.
The couple just celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary with another vow renewal. Jenny shared her love for Donnie in an Instagram post, writing, “I love you, mister. There aren’t enough words to describe the full life of love and laughter we’ve lived these past ten years.”
Not to be outdone, Donnie added, “Walking into our next ten years like! Happy 10th Anniversary Baby! So excited to share the rest of forever with you! One decade down, eternity to go!”
Jenny’s not just a dedicated wife, though — she’s also busy expanding her vegan beauty line, Formless Beauty. She recently announced the launch of new products, including the 2-in-1 Cheek and Lip Blush, which comes in two shades: pink and peach. “It’s so moisturizing when you put it on your lips. It’s like the perfect combination, and it’s in a compact, so you can take it everywhere,” she explained.
Her excitement doesn’t stop there. This fall, she’s introducing skincare to her brand, starting with an exfoliant. According to Jenny, the exfoliant leaves your skin “cleaner than you could imagine.” She said it’s gentle but makes your face “glow, feel soft, smooth, and hydrated.”
And Jenny is her own best test subject. “This product has made such a difference in my own skin that people the last couple of years have been like, ‘What are you doing?’ And I’m like, ‘Oh my god, you’re noticing!’”
But she’s also a realist about the limits of skincare. “Let’s be honest. You want years [taken off your face?] That’s all the Botox world,” she joked.
