50 Cent’s Netflix Documentary On Diddy’s Abuse Case Officially In The Works
50 Cent is taking his long-standing feud with Sean “Diddy” Combs to another level by producing a Netflix documentary that promises to explore the controversial abuse and sex-trafficking allegations against the hip-hop mogul. The rapper-turned-TV producer, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, confirmed the project through his production company G-Unit Film & Television.
According to a statement from 50-cent and director Alexandria Stapleton, this film won’t just focus on headlines, but aims to provide an in-depth narrative of the complex and disturbing allegations surrounding Diddy, while also examining the broader impact on hip-hop culture.
“This is a story with significant human impact. It is a complex narrative spanning decades, not just the headlines or clips seen so far,” the rapper and Stapleton said in a statement to PEOPLE.
“While the allegations are disturbing, we urge all to remember that Sean Combs’s story is not the full story of hip-hop and its culture. We aim to ensure that individual actions do not overshadow the culture’s broader contributions,” they added.
Netflix has been involved with the project since earlier this year, after winning what 50 Cent described as a “bidding war” to produce the documentary. However, no official premiere date has been announced.
The charges against Diddy are serious. He was arrested on September 17 and is currently being held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, facing multiple charges including sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. His arrest follows raids on his Los Angeles and Miami homes, during which prosecutors confiscated what they referred to as “freak off supplies,” including 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant. The items, allegedly connected to lengthy and illicit sex parties, have become a key part of the investigation. Diddy has been denied bail twice and will appear in court again in early October.
This isn’t the first time 50 Cent has publicly expressed his discomfort with Diddy’s lifestyle. In a July interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he shared a past experience that made him uneasy around the music mogul. “He asked to take me shopping,” Jackson recalled, adding, “I thought that was the weirdest s— in the world because that might be something that a man says to a woman… From that, I wasn’t comfortable around him.”
50 Cent has been vocal about staying away from Diddy’s infamous parties, which are now at the center of an ongoing federal investigation. “I’ve been staying out of that s— for years. It’s just an uncomfortable energy connected to it,” the rapper explained.
Over the years, he has regularly mocked Diddy on social media, especially after the arrest and charges. In a post on September 25, he shared an image of “Diddy Oil,” referencing the bottles of baby oil and lubricant confiscated by authorities during a raid of his homes in Los Angeles and Miami.
50 Cent in his September post, also teased the upcoming documentary with a cheeky caption: “Coming soon! LOL.”
