Diddy Off Suicide Watch As He Awaits Trial In Brooklyn
Sean “Diddy” Combs, the 54-year-old music mogul, is no longer on suicide watch at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, according to sources close to the case. Diddy, who was arrested on September 16, faces serious charges, including sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He remains in custody as he awaits his trial, set for early October.
After his initial arrest, there were concerns about his mental health. Law enforcement placed him on suicide watch as a precaution, unsure of how he would react to the shock of the charges. However, sources now confirm that Diddy’s mental state has stabilized, and he’s no longer under the special supervision required for inmates deemed at risk of self-harm.
Diddy has been visited by family while in the detention center, which houses over 1,600 inmates, including disgraced FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried. The facility is notorious for being dangerous and understaffed, but the rapper is reportedly focused and preparing for his upcoming court battle. His lawyer told PEOPLE, “He is concentrating on his defense and preparing for his trial.”
The indictment against Diddy is serious and has shocked the public. Prosecutors accuse him of orchestrating “freak offs,” described as elaborate sex parties involving male sex workers and women coerced into participation, often for days at a time. The indictment further alleges that Diddy used his influence, along with drugs like cocaine, oxycodone, and ketamine to intimidate the victims. Some of these parties were reportedly filmed without the participants’ knowledge.
Federal investigators raided his homes in Los Angeles and Miami earlier this year, seizing three AR-15 rifles and over 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant. These details, along with the allegations of drug use and coercion, paint a disturbing picture of the charges against the music mogul.
Despite the accusations, Diddy has pleaded not guilty to all charges. His legal team proposed a $50 million bail package, which was denied by the judge. The decision to keep him in custody was upheld on appeal. His lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, shared in an interview with TMZ that Diddy wants to testify at his trial and is eager to clear his name.
