Chris Hemsworth Has A Surprising Pick For Sexiest Man Alive 2024
Chris Hemsworth, who once held the title of Sexiest Man Alive himself, has a new suggestion for this year’s sizzling pick — and it’s not who you might expect! The 41-year-old Avengers star revealed his choice at the New York City premiere of the animated film Transformers One in August, where he joined his costars Brian Tyree Henry and Keegan-Michael Key.
When asked by PEOPLE who should take home the title in 2024, Chris didn’t hesitate: “Brian Tyree Henry. He’s one of the most handsome men in the world. I love him,” Hemsworth said with a grin.
But when it comes to advice for the next Sexiest Man Alive, the Australian actor kept it simple, saying, “Congratulations!” before jokingly adding, “What happened to me?” when shown his 2014 cover.
Back in 2014, when Chris was crowned Sexiest Man Alive at the age of 31, he took the news with humor. His wife, Spanish model Elsa Pataky, had a laugh as well. Chris joked at the time, “I think you’ve bought me a couple of weeks of bragging rights around the house. I can just say to her, ‘Now remember, this is what the people think, so I don’t need to do the dishes anymore, I don’t need to change nappies. I’m above that. I’ve made it now.’”
During the interview in 2014, Chris also revealed some fun personal tidbits. He mentioned that he sleeps without pajamas, has a signature dance move that involves a spin, and cherishes his time at home in Australia. “We just had a big beach day with the kids, swimming and kicking the ball around,” he shared, reflecting on his simple family life with Elsa and their three children, daughter India and twin boys, Sasha and Tristan.
Fast forward to 2024, and Chris is back in the spotlight — this time, as the voice of Orion Pax (Optimus Prime) in Transformers One, alongside Henry, 42, as D-16 (Megatron), and Key, 53, as B-127 (Bumblebee). The movie dives into the origins of the most iconic characters in the Transformers universe, showing how Orion Pax and D-16 went from being brothers-in-arms to sworn enemies.
At the Comic-Con panel for the movie in July, Chris shared a touching moment when he revealed how he consulted his three kids before taking the role in the animated feature. “I had gone to my kids and said, ‘What do you think?’ And they said, ‘You have to do it,’” Chris recalled.
