Beyoncé To Join Kamala Harris On The Campaign Trail Ahead Of 2024 Election
Beyoncé is set to lend her star power to the 2024 presidential race as she prepares to join Vice President Kamala Harris on the campaign trail in Houston. According to a report by The Washington Post, the music icon will make an appearance alongside Kamala at a rally on October 25, in her hometown, signaling a major endorsement for the Democratic ticket.
After months of speculation about whether the superstar would step into the political spotlight, Beyoncé, 43, is finally showing her full support for Kamala’s re-election campaign. The rally will also feature other notable figures, including Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, and legendary country singer Willie Nelson. While it’s still unclear if the artists will perform, their presence is expected to bring even more attention to the event.
This isn’t the first time Beyoncé has shown her support for Kamala. Back in 2023, she gifted Harris and second gentleman Doug Emhoff tickets to her Renaissance World Tour. Additionally, Beyoncé granted rare permission for her hit song Freedom to be used in the presidential candidate’s campaign materials, including a powerful ad released in July.
The ad highlighted Kamala’s message of hope and freedom, drawing a stark contrast to her political opponents. “There are some people who think we should be a country of chaos, of fear, of hate. But us? We choose something different. We choose freedom,” she says in the video.
As the ad closes, Beyoncé’s lyrics echo: “I’ma keep running ’cause a winner don’t quit on themselves.”
Beyoncé’s involvement with Kamala’s campaign goes beyond the music. The singer reportedly shut down former President Donald Trump’s use of Freedom after his team shared a video of him set to the song in August. Rolling Stone reported that Beyoncé’s team threatened legal action, making it clear the song was not to be associated with Trump.
Over the years, Beyoncé has become a vocal supporter of the Democratic Party. She famously performed the national anthem at President Barack Obama’s inauguration in 2013 and encouraged voters to support Joe Biden in the 2020 election through a social media campaign.
