Olivia Dunne Talks Relationship With Paul Skenes: “We’re Like Yin And Yang”
Olivia Dunne is sharing a glimpse into her life, both on and off the field. The 22-year-old LSU gymnast, who is a social media sensation with millions of followers, recently opened up about her relationship with Major League Baseball pitcher Paul Skenes and her new business venture with Jake Paul.
Olivia and Paul, both 22, may seem like an unlikely pair at first glance, but the athlete says their differences make them work. According to her, they are “complete opposites” in a lot of ways. Speaking with PEOPLE, she said, “I love doing social media and I enjoy being in the spotlight…He doesn’t like social media at all.”
While Olivia thrives in the spotlight, with 8 million followers on TikTok and 5.3 million on Instagram, Paul, a star rookie for the Pittsburgh Pirates, prefers to keep things low-key. Despite their contrasting personalities, the two athletes have found balance in their relationship. “We’re just very opposite and I feel like it really works,” Olivia added.
She further shared, “I think that we play off of one another and make each other better. Paul definitely holds me accountable, which I really appreciate. Sometimes it’s hard to find it within yourself to do things.”
Olivia, now in her fifth year at LSU, admires Paul’s work ethic, calling it “something I’ve never seen before.” She credits him with helping her become a better athlete. On the flip side, Olivia says she’s been able to help Paul adjust to the newfound fame that comes with being a top athlete, especially after he was drafted by the Pirates.
As she said, “I feel like we’re like yin and yang.”
Outside of their personal relationship, Olivia is making big moves professionally as well. She’s just announced that she’s joining Jake Paul’s company, W, as a co-owner, equity shareholder, and ambassador. Jake, 27, known for his controversial yet successful boxing career and his start on Vine, saw something special in Olivia when he was looking to expand W’s ownership. “Livvy’s not just a gymnast; she’s creating content on top of that, and people look at that as an easy thing to do, but it’s really a full-time job,” Jake told PEOPLE.
The partnership between Olivia and Jake began after they met at Michael Rubin’s white party in the Hamptons this past July, though they had followed each other on social media for years. Olivia, who was already a fan of Jake from his early Vine days, was impressed by his drive and determination.
