Adele Issues Tearful Tribute To Céline Dion During Las Vegas Residency
Adele couldn’t hold back her emotions when she spotted her longtime idol, Céline Dion, in the audience at her Las Vegas residency on October 26. The 36-year-old superstar was performing at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, a venue with deep significance for her, when she noticed the legendary singer in the crowd.
In a heartfelt moment captured on video and shared on X, Adele, visibly moved, approached the 56-year-old Céline, and the two embraced warmly. Later, Adele explained just how much this surprise appearance meant to her, calling it a “full-circle moment.”
“I have been performing in Céline Dion’s room at the Colosseum for almost 2 years now,” Adele shared in a post on X. “It was the only venue I wanted to play in Vegas because it was built for her. I have a picture of her right next to the stage that I touch every night before I walk on, and she came to the show this weekend, and it was a surprise and it was a MOMENT!!”
The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, which was built in 2003 specifically for Dion’s iconic A New Day… residency, has hosted some of the biggest names in music, including Elton John, Kylie Minogue, and Diana Ross. For Adele, performing on the same stage that was created for her idol has always been special, but seeing Celine in person took it to another level.
“Céline, I love you so very, very much. Words will never sum up what you mean to me or what you coming to my show means. Let alone how it felt seeing you back in your palace with your beautiful family,” Adele continued in her post.
This isn’t the first time Adele has expressed her admiration for Céline. In 2018, she met the My Heart Will Go On singer backstage at the Colosseum during Céline’s second residency. After that encounter, Adele took to Instagram to gush about the experience, calling Céline’s show “an absolute highlight” of her life and praising her humor and connection with the audience.
Céline, who has influenced many artists over the years, has also shown love to fellow singers like Kelly Clarkson. Recently, she praised Kelly for her emotional rendition of My Heart Will Go On on The Kelly Clarkson Show. In an Instagram video, Céline expressed how moved she was by Kelly’s performance, even admitting that she was brought to tears.
Kelly, in turn, shared her own full-circle moment, recalling how she struggled with laryngitis while performing one of Celine’s songs on American Idol back in 2002. The Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You) singer said she was mortified at the thought of Céline seeing that performance but felt validated years later by the praise she received from her idol.
