Kim Kardashian Sparks Backlash Over Tesla Robot Photoshoot And Elon Musk Ties
Kim Kardashian is no stranger to controversy, but her latest social media posts featuring Tesla robots and her custom Tesla Model S have sparked a fresh wave of backlash. Fans and critics alike took to social media to dissect her photoshoot and speculate about her ties to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who recently aligned himself with President-elect Donald Trump.
The series of images, shared on Kim’s Instagram, showed her posing provocatively with a Tesla robot and luxury car. In one shot, the 44-year-old reality star sat on the robot’s lap, while another featured her holding hands with the humanoid machine inside the car. Her edgy outfit — a sheer, nude-toned ensemble with a garter belt illusion — only added fuel to the fire.
While some fans jokingly called the robot her “soulmate,” others were disturbed by the perceived “sexualization” of the machine, calling the photos “scary” and “embarrassing.” One user commented, “Imagine taking pictures like this at 44 years old.”
Another quipped, “I thought you only made friends with convicted murderers you try to set free.”
Criticism didn’t stop at the photoshoot. Many saw her cozying up to Elon’s technology as an indirect endorsement of Donald Trump. Elon, who has donated $200 million to Trump’s campaign and recently accepted a government advisory role, has faced his share of controversy. Some users speculated that Kim’s connection to Elon hinted at her support for the Republican president-elect.
“Kim and her stupid robot is all I need to see to know she voted for Trump,” one commenter said.
Another chimed in, “Kim Kardashian confirming she voted for Trump via Tesla products is so f***ing funny.”
The fallout led some users to call for a boycott of Kim’s clothing brand, Skims. “Kim Kardashian is literally a Trump supporter, yet y’all still buying Skims?” one tweet read.
In a separate video shared earlier this week, Kim interacted with the Tesla robot, asking it to wave and make a heart shape with its hands. While intended to showcase the robot’s capabilities, the clip sparked comparisons to the dystopian sci-fi film I, Robot. “Am I the only one who remembers I, Robot?” one viewer asked. Another person warned, “Doesn’t end well.”
Tesla’s humanoid robot, known as Optimus, debuted at AI Day 2022 and is designed for repetitive or hazardous tasks, as well as domestic use. Elon envisions a future where these robots assist in cooking, lawn care, and elder care.
