Prosecutors Accuse Sean “Diddy” Combs Of Staff Abuse
Sean “Diddy” Combs is battling serious allegations while fighting for his release on $50 million bail. The music mogul, who is currently jailed at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, appeared in Manhattan federal court on November 22, as his attorneys made their latest push for bail under strict conditions.
The Bad Boy Records founder, indicted in September on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution, has pleaded not guilty. However, prosecutors are painting a damning picture of Diddy, claiming he has a history of physical abuse, intimidation, and threatening behavior.
In a letter to U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian, obtained by PEOPLE, prosecutors accused Diddy of abusing not only romantic partners but also his personal staff. “Former staff members have described the defendant threatening to kill them, throwing objects at them, and being struck, punched, and shoved by the defendant,” the letter states, adding that these staff members witnessed him exhibit the same violence toward others.
One particularly alarming accusation involves an incident where the rapper allegedly showed up at a woman’s home and tried to break down her door with a hammer.
Prosecutors also argue that Diddy has broken federal prison rules while incarcerated and has attempted to intimidate potential witnesses, leading them to oppose his release.
Meanwhile, Diddy’s defense team has pushed back against the accusations, calling the prosecution’s case “thin.” They proposed that if granted bail, the 54-year-old mogul would live under strict conditions, including 24/7 surveillance, limited contact with others, and residence in a three-bedroom apartment on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
This marks the third attempt to secure bail for Diddy, who was previously denied release by two judges. Subramanian is expected to decide soon whether the proposed conditions are sufficient to grant bail.
