Hugh Jackman Celebrates Ryan Reynolds’ Mom Tammy’s Big 80 With Humor
Hugh Jackman never misses a chance to celebrate his friends — or their moms. On December 3, Hugh paid a warm and hilariously cheeky tribute to Tammy Reynolds, the mother of his Deadpool and Wolverine costar, Ryan Reynolds, as she celebrated her milestone 80th birthday.
The 56-year-old actor shared a carousel of photos on Instagram, featuring himself with Tammy and a shot of Tammy with her famous son, Ryan. Alongside the snaps, Hugh delivered his signature humor: “Happy Birthday to the one and only, Tam Tam! Patrick, Terry, Jeff and I love you so much. And of course, your emergency, stand-in son, Ray. Rolf…? Ryan?” he teased, listing Ryan’s older brothers by name before almost forgetting Ryan himself.
Ryan, 48, quickly jumped in with a reply that didn’t miss a beat. “Blasphemer!” he commented, proving once again why their playful bromance is a fan favorite.
Meanwhile, Ryan also took to Instagram to celebrate his mom in his trademark comedic style. Sharing a video montage of funny moments with Tammy, he captioned it, “Tam Tam is 80!!! Wishing my mom the happiest birthday.”
The Spirited actor couldn’t resist weaving in a joke: “I still remember the first time I saw her. I was sitting in the backyard one night, holding a flashlight and dozing off. Suddenly, she just came waddling out of the shed. It scared the s— out of me!”
“Later, I rode my bike, racing away from our dry desert home and into a deciduous rainforest which somehow coexists just a few blocks away. Eventually Mom was all like, ‘f— it,’ and we straight up, flew into the air while she whispered, ‘Elliot’ every few seconds in a low groan that was both off-putting and quite off-putting,” he added.
The Reynolds-Jackman camaraderie was on full display last month when Hugh cheekily acknowledged Ryan’s birthday on October 23. Sharing a series of photos of their long-running friendship, Hugh joked, “On this day we celebrate Tammy … for delivering Ryan. 🎂 🎉 🎈.”
Hugh and Ryan share more than jokes — they share an October birthday month. Just 11 days apart, Ryan and Hugh celebrated together with director Shawn Levy, who posted a photo on October 7 of the duo holding a flower-adorned cake. “October is the best month for buddy birthdays.
