Kevin Costner Hasn’t Given “Yellowstone” Finale “Any Thoughts”
Kevin Costner seems to have moved on from the dramatic conclusion of Yellowstone. Just days after the series finale aired on December 16, the 69-year-old actor was spotted enjoying a relaxed nighttime stroll in Aspen, Colorado.
Dressed in a black shirt under a sleek black overcoat, khaki-colored pants, a matching black scarf, and brown leather boots, Kevin looked effortlessly stylish. Outside the popular western store Kemo Sabe, he briefly addressed the finale when asked by The Daily Mail.
“I’m not thinking about [the episode],” Kevin said, adding, “I don’t think I’ve given it any thoughts. We’ll just let it go.”
Kevin officially confirmed in June 2024 that he wouldn’t return for the second half of Yellowstone’s fifth season. In an Instagram post, he referred to the show as a “beloved series” that he holds close to his heart. His departure came with the shocking revelation that his character, John Dutton, was killed off in the premiere of season 5, part 2.
In the final episode, John Dutton’s family, led by his daughter Beth Dutton (played by Kelly Reilly), vowed to avenge his death. Beth stayed true to her word, delivering a powerful conclusion as the family fought to protect their legacy.
Speaking about the emotional journey of filming the final season, Kelly, 47, reflected on how deeply the cast felt the weight of the ending.
“There were moments where we would all just look around and just appreciate the moment, the beautiful day or the situation that just happened … you would go, ‘Well, this might be the last time we get to do this.’ So there was a savoring. Certainly for me, and I really felt this with a lot of the cast members of wanting to lay it all out there this year,” she told PEOPLE.
“It was like, ‘Let’s just give it your whole heart and give these characters and the show the ending that they deserve.’ And the fans, because people have gone on such an adventure with us,” the actress added.
