Mariah Carey Brings “All I Want for Christmas Is You” To Fortnite Winterfest
The Queen of Christmas has officially landed in Fortnite! Mariah Carey is bringing her festive magic and iconic hit All I Want for Christmas Is You to Fortnite’s Winterfest, running until January 7.
In true Mariah fashion, her Fortnite character is dazzling. Fans can find her digital alter ego in the game, complete with outfits inspired by her legendary Merry Christmas album cover and the glamorous gold look from The Emancipation of Mimi.
Speaking to PEOPLE about the excitement she felt toward the event, Mariah, 55, said, “My Fortnite character is basically me with some different outfits, skins. I’m so excited about this. It’s really cute.”
While Mariah’s character is a non-playable NPC, players can still celebrate the season with her. “She runs, and she twirls. She does a little dance from the ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ music video from 2019, and for ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ as a jam track,” the singer.
The game also features the iconic song as a jam track, keeping the holiday vibes alive.
Mariah’s Fortnite journey started with her 13-year-old son, Moroccan, whom she shares with ex-husband Nick Cannon. “I was watching my son play Fortnite for the longest time, and then he taught me how to play. It’s been cute little excursion figuring out if we were going to be able to do this [Fortnite collaboration] or not,” she shared.
Outside of the gaming world, Mariah wrapped up her Christmas Time Tour on December 17 in Brooklyn, where she even signed Rihanna’s breast in a playful backstage moment. Reflecting on her tour, she admitted, “I really love doing it, I just need to schedule it a little differently because this year I’d gotten sick just from being out there too long.”
Mariah had to cancel three shows due to the flu but assured fans her holiday shows are something she’ll “always do.”
And despite singing All I Want for Christmas Is You year after year, Mariah insists she’s not tired of Christmas at all. “I’m in Aspen, and right now, ‘Oh, Santa’ is playing over the speakers. And I’m like, ‘I guess I’m not sick of it,'” she said, laughing.
