Julianne Moore Reveals She Was Pregnant While Filming “The Big Lebowski”
Julianne Moore recently revealed a behind-the-scenes secret about her time filming the cult classic The Big Lebowski. During her appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show on January 8, the 64-year-old actress shared that she was pregnant with her son Caleb while working on the 1998 film.
“I was pregnant with my son. The first time I was pregnant. I was so sick that day,” Moore said of filming a specific scene. “I was so nauseous,” she stated.
Describing the particular challenge of shooting while hiding her pregnancy, she added, “I could barely move and that dress was really solid and made from styrofoam… I was just unbelievably sick. And I couldn’t tell anyone I was pregnant because I didn’t want them to know.”
Julianne and her husband, director Bart Freundlich, share two children: Caleb, now 27, and Liv, 22. The actress often shares loving tributes to her kids on social media.
In April, Julianne celebrated Liv’s 22nd birthday with a heartfelt Instagram post. Sharing a series of throwback photos of her daughter, she wrote, “Happy 22nd birthday @livfreundlich — you are not little anymore but you will always be my baby. I love you so much – thank you for being the daughter of my dreams. I am so looking forward to all this year will bring you✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨.”
The proud mom gushed about another milestone in June, when Julianne graduated from Northwestern University. Posting a carousel of photos from the ceremony, she wrote, “This smart, wonderful, beautiful, and insightful young woman graduated from @northwesternu. We are bursting with pride @livfreundlich — congratulations on your accomplishment #wildcat. We love love love you.”
One photo featured Liv holding a sign that read “English — Northwestern Weinberg College of Arts & Sciences,” while another showed her celebrating with friends, champagne bottles in hand.
