Kathy Griffin And Randy Bick Finalize Divorce After Filing For Separation A Year Ago
Kathy Griffin’s marriage to Randy Bick has officially come to an end. On January 13, the 64-year-old comedian finalized her divorce in Los Angeles, marking the conclusion of a year-long process that began when she filed citing irreconcilable differences.
The settlement adhered to the couple’s December 2019 prenuptial agreement, with Kathy and Randy parting ways amicably on paper. As part of the agreement, Kathy paid Randy $75,000 to cover his legal fees and living expenses. Despite an earlier request for spousal support, Randy waived that right in the final settlement.
Their separation date was noted as December 28, 2023, just three days before their fourth wedding anniversary. The couple, who had been together for nine years before tying the knot, had a unique New Year’s Day wedding in 2020 officiated by comedian Lily Tomlin.
The divorce wasn’t without its challenges. It took Randy over two months to respond to Kathy’s filing, prompting her to hire a private investigator to serve him the papers. According to Kathy, Randy had ceased communication and left their shared home after she asked him to move out.
Amid the heartbreak, Kathy leaned on close friends, including Jane Fonda, for support, as she admitted her heart was broken. However, her comedy became her saving grace. Kathy credited her ongoing stand-up tour, My Life on the PTSD-List, for helping her cope during the difficult time.
“I thank God for this tour,” she told PEOPLE in May. “I’m just so grateful to be on tour, so it takes my mind off it.” By October, she had performed in 45 cities across the U.S. and Canada, calling each show “a gift” and “the panacea to all that ails me.”
Kathy also reflected on the advice of her late friend Joan Rivers: “The more your life is in the s—, the fun you are.’ So, I must be hilarious.”
As for her personal life, Kathy isn’t rushing into anything new. When asked about potential love interests, she joked that she was “currently dating all of my audiences.”
On a more serious note, she added, “I’m open to darn near anything. Do you not know me? That’s how I get in trouble.”
