Nina Dobrev Shares Survivor’s Guilt After LA Wildfires And Asks Fans To Help Families In Need
Nina Dobrev is using her voice to bring attention to the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles. The Vampire Diaries actress revealed that she was forced to evacuate her home on her 36th birthday, January 9, and has been deeply affected by the tragedy unfolding around her.
In an emotional video shared on Instagram, Nina said, “Hi everyone, it’s been such a tragic time in Los Angeles recently. I have been absolutely sick to my stomach with all the destruction and devastation that these fires have caused, displacing so many families.”
Despite her home surviving the fires, Nina admitted to struggling with survivor’s guilt. “My heart is broken for all the people affected by these wildfires.”
While her home made it, Nina stated, “But so many others were not so lucky.”
Instead of celebrating her birthday as planned, Nina decided to dedicate the day to helping wildfire victims. “What people really need right now is financial aid to help them get back on their feet and start rebuilding their lives and their homes,” she stated.
She urged her followers to join her, explaining, “So for my birthday this year I went down that list and I donated to those families and it would be my birthday wish and I would love it if you could do the same. Small or big donations that’s up to you, whatever is within your means.”
In her Instagram bio, Nina shared a spreadsheet with links to GoFundMe pages for families affected by the fires. The list includes a special section for Black families and other historically marginalized groups in the Altadena community who have been hit particularly hard.
Nina emphasized the importance of providing financial aid over material donations. She also touched on the emotional and financial toll the wildfires have taken on families, revealing that some have also had their insurance companies drop them.
To further illustrate the devastation, Nina’s post included photos of the wildfires’ aftermath. In her caption, she thanked her followers for their continued support and reminded them that rebuilding will be a long and challenging journey for many families. “The road to rebuilding and healing for so many families who have lost everything starts now, and it will be a long one. ❤️🩹 #LosAngelesfires,” she wrote.
The wildfires have claimed the lives of at least 27 people, with thousands of residents still under evacuation orders. Nina’s heartfelt plea reminds us of the importance of coming together during times of crisis and helping those in need.
