Kanye West is facing a lawsuit from a former Yeezy employee who claims he created a toxic and hostile work environment filled with antisemitic remarks, threats, and inappropriate behavior. The lawsuit, filed by an anonymous woman referred to as Jane Doe in Los Angeles County on February 11, accuses the rapper of comparing himself to Hitler, threatening her because she is Jewish, and firing her just one day after she reported his actions to her supervisor.
According to court documents, Jane Doe began working for Yeezy in late 2023, around the same time the rapper publicly apologized to the Jewish community in Hebrew for his past antisemitic remarks. However, the lawsuit alleges that his apology was short-lived, and he instead launched a “calculated campaign to threaten and psychologically torment Jewish people around him, especially Plaintiff.”
Jane Doe claims that Kanye frequently called himself “Hitler” and a “Nazi,” and directly targeted her with insults, calling her a “bitch” and “ugly.” In January 2024, controversy swirled around Kanye’s then-upcoming album, Vultures Vol. 1, as its cover art was accused of resembling Nazi symbolism. When Jane Doe suggested to a colleague that Kanye should publicly distance himself from Nazism to avoid negative press, the rapper allegedly responded via text with, “I Am A Nazi.”
The lawsuit also alleges that he engaged in other inappropriate behavior, including sending an unsolicited nude photo of a woman to a group chat that included Jane Doe. “The unwelcome exposure to such nudity made Plaintiff feel uncomfortable and deeply unsettled,” the complaint states, but she tried to ignore it and continue working.
Kanye’s alleged behavior continued into early 2024. On June 4, the lawsuit claims he texted Jane Doe and other Jewish colleagues, “Welcome to the first day of working for Hitler.” He then removed Jane Doe and two other Jewish employees from the group chat, only to later re-add them and say, “F— both of you,” before removing them again.
Jane Doe reported Kanye’s comments and shared screenshots with her supervisor. The next day, on June 5, she was fired via email. The lawsuit further claims that after her report, Kanye used his wife Bianca Censori’s phone to send her messages, calling her a “heartless sociopath” and comparing her to an OnlyFans model, while also telling her, “Shut the f— up bitch.”
Screenshots of text messages allegedly sent from Kanye’s account, labeled as “Ye Private” and “Kanye West,” were included in the legal filing. The lawsuit also references his infamous 2022 tweet where he wrote, “I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE…” Jane Doe claims a text West sent to her in June 2024 that referenced “deathcon” was a direct threat against her.
She is suing West on multiple charges, including harassment, workplace discrimination, wrongful termination, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and retaliation for reporting misconduct. She is also citing violations of California’s Ralph Act and Tom Bane Civil Rights Act, both of which protect individuals from hate-motivated violence and discrimination.
She is seeking an undisclosed sum of damages exceeding $35,000 and has requested a trial by jury.
