Hailee Steinfeld Says Josh Allen Made Sure She Looked “Good” For Surprise Proposal
Hailee Steinfield had no idea what was coming. One minute, she was enjoying a beautiful day in Malibu — her happy place — and the next, she was saying yes to a proposal she never saw coming.
In a new interview, the actress and singer admitted that her fiancé, Josh, made sure she looked her best for the big moment, even though she had no clue what was about to happen. “I’m so grateful that he did it the way he did so that I looked good, and we have these photos that we’ll have and cherish for the rest of our lives that I’m not looking at being like, ‘What was I wearing?’” she said.
Luckily, her boho-chic shirt dress and knee-high stiletto boots were proposal-ready.
The couple, who started dating in May 2023, have been careful about keeping their relationship private. Hailee explained, “When you realize that so much is already out there in every other aspect of your life, you really learn to cherish the little that isn’t. It just makes things extra special, and it’s just for you.”
Josh proposed in late November 2024, and they shared the happy news a week later on Instagram. Their engagement announcement included a breathtaking photo of Josh down on one knee while Hailee bent down to kiss him. The moment was framed by a floral arch, dozens of candles, and a stunning ocean view. A source close to the couple later shared, “They’ve been head over heels from the start. Their families are thrilled.”
Three months later, the newly engaged pair made their red carpet debut as fiancés at the NFL Honors on February 6, where Josh won the Most Valuable Player award. But while fans were excited about his big win, all eyes were on Hailee’s dazzling diamond ring.
Though Hailee hasn’t spilled any details about her sparkler, jewelry expert Olivia Landau estimates the round brilliant-cut diamond weighs between 3.5 and 4 carats. Set on a thin platinum solitaire band, the ring is elegant and timeless. “She opted for a classic ring rather than following trends,” Olivia noted.
