Brenda Song Says Her Son Was In A Hurry To Be Born: “I Didn’t Even Push”

Brenda Song had quite the surprise when welcoming her youngest son, Carson. During a recent appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark, the 36-year-old actress revealed that Carson was so eager to arrive that he “came out on a contraction.”

“I always say, my second son, he really wanted to be here. No doubt about it. He made that choice and I was very fortunate. I didn’t even push him out, he came out on a contraction. I was like, ‘Oh, he’s ready to be here.'” she shared.

Brenda and her fiancé, Macaulay Culkin, welcomed Carson and their first son, Dakota, just 15 months apart.

Host Kelly Ripa, who has children close in age with her husband and co-host Mark Consuelos, immediately related. “Yes, it’s a big surprise,” Mark chimed in.

The conversation then took a nostalgic turn when Kelly recalled a sweet moment she had with Macaulay years ago. She shared that after giving birth to her first son, Michael, she struggled to get through a Starbucks door with a stroller — until a young man stepped in to help. “People in the city don’t care if you have children…And this young man came out of his way and opened the door and held it for me and it was, in fact, Macaulay Culkin,” she said, calling him “a good one.”

When asked how she and Macaulay unwind after a long day, Brenda described them as “big kids.” She said they love spending their evenings chatting, watching sports, and playing Mario Kart. However, video games sometimes bring out her competitive side. “Sometimes it’s not as relaxing as it should be because I’m so competitive,” she admitted.

Brenda and Macaulay first met in 2014 but didn’t reconnect until three years later while filming Changeland in Thailand. That reunion changed everything, and in January 2022, sources confirmed to PEOPLE that the couple was engaged and “excited for their future together.”

Now a mother of two, Brenda recently opened up about how parenthood has reshaped her life. “Becoming a mom and finding such fulfillment in my personal life has changed me so much,” she said. “I feel like, for the first time, it’s truly the next phase in my life…my priorities have shifted.”
