Justin Bieber Addresses Struggles With Cryptic Instagram Posts

Justin Bieber is getting real about his emotions. The 31-year-old singer took to Instagram on March 16 to share a deeply personal message about his struggles with hate and self-doubt. In an all-caps post, Justin admitted he has felt like he was “drowning” while trying to push away negative emotions instead of addressing them.
“I was always told when I was a kid not to hate,” he began. “But it made me feel like I wasn’t allowed to have it, and so I didn’t tell anyone I’ve had it.” He continued, explaining that hiding those feelings only made him feel more overwhelmed and “unsafe to acknowledge it.”
His message suggested that the only way to let go of hate is to first recognize that it exists. “How couldn’t we feel hate from all of the hurt we have experienced?” he concluded.
Just days earlier, on March 13, Justin opened up about his lifelong struggles with self-worth. “People told me my whole life, ‘wow Justin, u deserve that,’ and I personally have always felt unworthy,” he wrote on Instagram Stories. “Like I was a fraud. Like when people told me I deserve something, it made me feel sneaky like, ‘Damn, if only they knew my thoughts.’”
He also admitted that he often feels “unequipped and unqualified most days.”
On March 8, Justin posted another cryptic message about feeling at peace with himself, possibly in response to ongoing concerns about his health. “We have nothing to prove today, just the gift of life today to accept and [receive]. Nothing is owed to us and we [don’t] owe anyone anything ♥️,” he wrote, sharing the words alongside Stevie Wonder’s 1976 song Sir Duke.
Lately, fans have been speculating about Justin’s well-being after noticing changes in his physical appearance and behavior. Rumors began circulating in February, but a representative for Justin and his wife, Hailey Baldwin Bieber, shut them down in a statement to TMZ on February 23.
According to the rep, the narrative going around about Justin’s health and drug use is false. Calling the rumors “exhausting and pitiful,” the rep emphasized that despite what people may believe, Justin is not struggling with substance abuse, and people continue to push negative, harmful narratives.
The singer, who welcomed his first child, Jack Blues, with Hailey in August, has largely stayed out of the public eye recently.
