Maren Morris Drops A Sassy New Anthem For The Single Girl Era

Maren Morris just checked us into her latest track, but don’t expect breakfast in the morning.
The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, 35, is back with a cheeky new single, Bed No Breakfast, and it’s the kind of breakup bop that deserves a five-star review (but zero overnight guests). Released on April 18, the song is the latest sneak peek from her upcoming album Dreamsicle, set to arrive May 9.
The track is flirty, funny, and full of Maren’s signature no-nonsense honesty. “The whole process of writing that song made me laugh,” she told PEOPLE before the song dropped, “so I was like, ‘This feels like a good time [to release this] in the current state of modern dating. It’s a cry for the people.’”
And cry (or laugh) we did. In the song, Maren kicks a fling out with poetic precision, singing:
“Hope you enjoyed your stay, but you can’t stay / A five-star review is expected / I check every box on your checklist / These thousand-count sheets aren’t for restin’ / Excuse my directness / This is a bed, no breakfast.”
While Carry Me Through — her last single — was soulful and deeply emotional, Bed No Breakfast flips the tone. Maren calls it a “shock to the system” meant to surprise anyone who thought the whole album would be slow, moody ballads. “…there’s still some Texan sass in there too,” she teased.
Dreamsicle isn’t just a new chapter in sound — it’s a new chapter in life. Maren’s been navigating huge changes, from her divorce from fellow singer Ryan Hurd (with whom she shares a 5-year-old son, Hayes), to stepping back from the country music industry. The album reflects all of that — healing, humor, heartbreak, and a whole lot of honesty.
As for her love life, Maren says dating isn’t a top priority right now. “I don’t have time for it. … My priorities are correct. They need to be on work, myself, my son,” she says. “If I have the time, I would never shut down to an opportunity to have a connection, but yeah — it’s not priority one, but it’s going.”
Aside from music, Maren’s been sipping something new — and no, it’s not a mimosa with brunch. She’s now a brand ambassador for Reign Storm, a plant-based, sugar-free energy drink that kept her going during her last tour. “When my tour kicked off, I was just on the road and I also had my son out with me, so I was just in mom mode the first half of the day,” she said, adding, “Then once my son goes to sleep, I still have two hours till show, so I would just naturally find myself reaching for one, just to stay awake, but also I don’t want to be so jittery that I feel weird on stage or once the show’s over, I can’t go to sleep, so they were just actually really nice to try out while I was working.”
The drink’s motto? Live life better. And for Maren, that means embracing what comes, saying yes to new adventures, and shedding the self-doubt that used to weigh her down. “It’s my year of yes and saying yes to everything,” she said, “just being open-hearted and open-minded about whatever universally falls in my lap. Everything’s been very go-with-the-flow and cosmic thus far.”
