SZA Nearly Slips During Grand National Tour Kickoff With Kendrick Lamar

SZA might’ve nearly hit the floor, but she still owned the stage like a pro. The 35-year-old singer had a heart-stopping moment during the opening night of her Grand National Tour with Kendrick Lamar on Saturday, April 19, at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
While performing her track Diamond Boy (DTM) from her latest album Lana, SZA attempted a slick dance move with one of her dancers — and let’s just say gravity almost had its moment.
In a fan-captured video, SZA gracefully lifted her leg to hook it over her dancer’s thigh. But suddenly, the dancer lost balance, and for a split second, it looked like SZA might hit the ground. With her arm still draped around the dancer’s shoulders, she shifted her weight, took a quick step forward, and caught herself before any real fall could happen. Crisis averted. And the best part? She bounced right back into the routine without missing a beat. Queen behavior.
SZA hasn’t posted about the near-slip yet, but she did share a clip from her performance on Instagram with the caption: “It feels illegal to be this close to SZA.”
She also gave a shoutout to her trainer, Taylor Petty, writing, “Shoutout to my trainer these cameras a lil close 😭.”
This tour marks a big moment for both SZA and Kendrick. It’s their first-ever stadium tour, and it’s already off to a thrilling (and slightly wobbly) start. Back in March on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, SZA hinted at just how wild the tour would be. “We’re doing a fun thing,” she said. “We’re both just kind of throwing all the paint at the wall. This is our first stadium show for both of us, so we pretty much have to go insane.”
The duo announced their tour in December 2024, and fans have been counting down the days ever since. They’ve also been making waves musically, with SZA and Kendrick recently collaborating on the tracks Gloria and Luther from Kendrick’s 2024 album GNX.
Their Grand National Tour will hit major U.S. cities including Houston, Atlanta, Chicago, Philly, and Los Angeles — before heading off to international stops in Germany, Spain, Italy, and more.
