Meghan Markle Reveals Whether She Is Running For Office

Meghan Markle can be many things from a podcast host to the founder of a lifestyle brand — but there’s one job she’s absolutely crossing off her list: politician.
The Duchess of Sussex, 43, sat down for her very first podcast interview on The Jamie Kern Lima Show, and fans got a much more personal look at Meghan than usual. Rocking comfy black sweatpants and going completely makeup-free, Meghan opened up about her marriage to Prince Harry, her dreams for the future, and some rumors that just won’t die.
When Jamie asked her directly if she would ever consider running for office, Meghan didn’t hesitate. “No. Never. Oh, God,” she laughed, making it clear politics isn’t something she’s interested in. “I mean, you could say, ‘Never say never.’ No, I’m not interested in that. No,” she added.
For someone who spent years inside the famously apolitical royal family, it’s not surprising. Royals aren’t supposed to vote or show political preferences. Instead, they focus on working with leaders across party lines, both in the U.K. and internationally.
But stepping away from official royal duties in 2020 gave Meghan and Harry a lot more freedom. Now living in California, they’ve both become vocal about the power of voting. Meghan even made history by becoming the first modern royal to cast a ballot in a U.S. presidential election, something she called exciting — especially because it meant seeing more women of color in leadership roles, like Kamala Harris.
Harry also weighed in during the 2020 election season, saying, “Many of you may not know that I haven’t been able to vote in the U.K. my entire life,” and stressing how important it is to “reject hate speech, misinformation, and online negativity.”
Still, don’t expect to see Meghan campaign for anything other than creative projects anytime soon. In the interview, she revealed she’s thinking about writing again. Her first children’s book, The Bench, was a bestseller, and when asked if another book is coming, she said, “Yes, maybe, for sure.”
Meghan hinted that she’s especially drawn to the world of food, hospitality, and home life right now, suggesting her next book could focus on tips for entertaining. “Of course, children’s books are great,” she added.
As for a juicy tell-all memoir? Not just yet, as the Netflix producer said that she has “a lot more life to live” before she considers a memoir.
