Late Actor Tony Todd Teases Role In “Final Destination: Bloodlines”

Tony Todd’s deep voice and haunting presence have long made him a fan favorite in the Final Destination films. Now, with Final Destination: Bloodlines, the late actor makes a powerful return in a role that has mystified fans for 25 years—and finally gets the spotlight it deserves.
Tony, who passed away in November 2024 at age 69, steps back into the eerie shoes of William Bludworth, the mysterious figure who’s been giving viewers chills since the first film debuted in 2000. In a new behind-the-scenes video shared exclusively with PEOPLE, fans get one last glimpse of Tony in action.
“When Tony Todd first came on set, there was sort of a hush that fell over all of the cast and crew,” said co-director Adam Stein.
“Having this legendary figure come onto set and reprise his role as Bludworth— he brought this incredible gravity to the part,” Adam continued.
His co-director Zach Lipovsky called Tony’s return “a moment of magic,” while producer Craig Perry promised that this time around, William’s secrets won’t stay buried.
Fans have long wondered: who is William Bludworth? Is he Death himself? An angel? A devil? No one really knew — until now. “We’ve always avoided answering the question because it’s nice to keep it a mystery, but we heard the fans. In this movie, we answer those questions,” Perry shared.
In Bloodlines, the story rewinds to the origins of Death’s twisted rules. Stefanie, a college student tormented by a violent nightmare, returns home in search of the one man who might stop the curse from consuming her family. That man? William Bludworth.
Tony, ever thoughtful about his characters, shared his deep connection to William before his passing. “This is one of the few films that I’ve been able to return to more than once,” he said. “The more you do a character, the more you understand it. I love Bludworth — he’s a very interesting, enigmatic personality.”
Actor Max Lloyd-Jones teased what fans can expect: “To see where Bludworth came from, that’s gonna be really exciting.” Brec Bassinger, who also stars in the film, added, “You learn why he knows so much about escaping death.”
The film’s cast includes Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Teo Briones, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Rya Kihlstedt, Anna Lore, Max Lloyd-Jones, and Brec Bassinger.
