The Kid LAROI Seemingly Confirms Breakup With Tate McRae
The Kid LAROI and Tate McRae have gone their separate ways. After months of romance rumors, Instagram posts, and even a birthday kiss, the 21-year-old Australian artist appeared to confirm the breakup on July 25 with a screenshot posted to X (formerly known as Twitter).
The whole thing started when a fan accused The Kid LAROI’s team of paying for shady tweets targeting Tate, especially after the release of his new single Hot Girl Problems. But LAROI wasn’t having it.
“so y’all know, I have NOTHING to do with this and I DO NOT co-sign this behavior whatsoever,” he wrote, adding that he was “working to get these removed.”
He even shared a screenshot of himself messaging a team member, asking, “Guys is this coming internally? If so, can we please have these taken down.”
In that same message thread, LAROI gave fans the update they were waiting for. “Tate and I are on good terms and this just looks messy / whack,” he wrote, making it clear that while the romance may be over, there is no bad blood.
A team member quickly responded, promising they’d “make moves on this,” while another added, “definitely didn’t come from us, that’s f—– up.”
The breakup comes after a whirlwind few months of speculation, sweet moments, and social media PDA.
Back in January 2024, fans began buzzing when Tate posted a mirror selfie wearing what looked suspiciously like LAROI’s shirt. The internet sleuths were proven right not long after, when LAROI dropped a sunglasses emoji in her comments, fueling the fire.
Soon, the two were spotted everywhere from casual LA dates to holding hands at the NHL All-Star Game in Toronto. By April, LAROI was referring to her as “my girlfriend” on stage. And in July, he made it official with a photo of them kissing on his Instagram Stories to celebrate Tate’s 21st birthday.
“Happy 21st birthday 🥲❤️ You make me better! I love yoooouuu @tatemcrae,” he wrote.
Tate replied the love just a month later, writing, “@thekidlaroi I love you soooooo much <3 so grateful for u,” alongside a sweet video of them dancing and sharing a kiss.
It is not entirely clear when or why things ended between the two.
