Nikki Reed Says She Has Worn The Same Pants And Shoes For Over 15 Years

For Nikki Reed, getting dressed each morning is about as stress-free as it gets mostly because her wardrobe hasn’t really changed in nearly two decades. The Twilight star, 36, revealed on The Art of Being Well with Dr. Will Cole podcast that she’s been wearing the same pants for years (patched up by her mom whenever they wear thin) and the same trusty pair of shoes she’s had for 15 years.
“I wear the same clothes every day,” Nikki admitted. “I’ve got vintage pants on and they’ve got a bunch of holes. And if I were to turn around and show you my butt pockets, you would see that my mom helps me patch the back of them because I wear the same pants.”
Her shoes? They’ve been on her feet so long they’re practically part of her identity. “I resole them every three years,” she said, “because I wear the same shoes every day.”
For Nikki, this isn’t just about comfort but about living simply and sustainably. “We live in a culture of more and more and more,” she explained. “And I don’t want more. I want less, but I want good. I try to keep things for an entire lifetime. Before I purchase anything at all, I think about where it’s made, how it’s made, and how long I’m going to wear it.”
That love for sustainability is a big reason Nikki and her husband, The Vampire Diaries alum Ian Somerhalder, stepped away from acting. She is now the CEO and co-founder of sustainable jewelry brand Bayou With Love, runs a supplement company called The Absorption Company, and spends her days working barefoot in nature whenever she can.
“I’m really a nature gal, an animal gal,” Nikki said. “I would much rather be barefoot walking through soil than in high heels anywhere.”
While she hasn’t completely shut the door on acting, her last on-screen role was in the 2019 Netflix series V-Wars. Now, she says she is too busy running her companies and raising her two children to consider returning anytime soon. “I’m just very, very busy. I work over 90 hours a week. Right now, I’m running a company full-time and just launched another, a shared company with the absorption company,,” she told PEOPLE in October.
“And I just can’t imagine being able to pivot my energy away, but there’s no door closed,” she added.
