Alesha Dixon Recalls Trauma From Her Twenties, Says No Amount Of Money Can Take Her Back There
Unlike many aging people who always talk about how they want to go back to their twenties, Alesha Dixon prefers the much older version of herself. The 44-year-old singer shared in a new interview with The Sun that she likes herself more and feels “happy in her skin” as she gets older.
According to Alesha, her twenties are filled with “horrific” memories, the most notable of which was the end of her marriage to rapper MC Harvey. The Mis-Teeq alum’s marriage to the British rapper ended in 2006 after only eight months of tying the nuptial knot. Harvey was admittedly unfaithful to her and had cheated on her with singer and West End stage co-star Javine Hilton that same year.
About 28 years old at the time, the Britain’s Got Talent judge shared that she lost more than her marriage to Harvey in 2006. That was also the time she quit her girl band Mis-Teeq, which also consisted of Sabrina Washington and Su-Elise Nash. So, at the time, she was broke and dealing with hurt from a failed marriage and the lack of a record deal.
Age, Alesha believes, helped her rise from the ashes with grace. Now thriving in her career and business, the Scandalous singer has built up a great deal of confidence with capability as she grew older. She now has her own music label, and according to her, she has been representing herself properly without the need for a manager since November 2021.
The songstress also picked up her broken heart and married ex-dancer Azuka Ononye in 2017. The pair appear to be happy together with two kids.
Alesha’s satisfaction with her age goes beyond her new home and the way she handles things. She also prefers her older look to the one she carried around in her twenties. She shared that while she is aging, she feels more “happy in her skin” now than she used to.
In the middle of the beauty, her life already is, the former Strictly Come Dancing champion is working on more. She mentioned in the interview that fans should expect the release of a new album from her label next year.
Aside from music, Alesha has plans for television too. “I’ve put a team together and we have some scripted and non-scripted shows at various stages of development,” said The Boy Does Nothing star, who wants to front her own show and “work behind the scenes as a producer.”
