Big Flash: Keke Palmer Confirms Pregnancy Rumors
Keke Palmer told the world she is expecting a baby with a “flash” at Saturday Night Live. During her opening monologue, the 29-year-old actress flashed her baby bump to announce the big news, confirming fan speculations that have been going on for a while now.
The star, who made her acting debut as a child actress in the 2006 film, Akeelah And The Bee, began by addressing rumors spreading around that she is pregnant. She referred to comments on social media pointing to the speculations, such as “Keke’s having a baby.”
“I want to set the record straight,” she said firmly as if she was about to refute the rumors. However, in a move that brought joy to the hearts of her fans, she unbuttoned her long blazer and ripped it open. And voila! A baby bump!
“I am,” she announced as she performed the visual reveal with her hands over her bump. What came after were loud cheers of congratulations from the audience.
After the applause died down, the Nope star went on about how it was “bad” when people “spread rumors about you.” “But it’s even worse when they are correct,” she added humorously.
She explained that she was trying to keep the pregnancy under wraps because she had a lot going on. “You know, people kept coming up to me, ‘Congratulations,’” she joked, “and I’m like, ‘Shhh, can y’all stop? I got a liquor sponsorship on the line.’”
Unlike some in the entertainment industry, Keke did not leave her fans making long guesses as to who the father of her baby was. While she didn’t give any hint during her monologue, the father did later.
Shortly after the episode aired and the announcement was out, boyfriend and writer Darius Daulton confirmed he was involved in the making of the baby. With a timed upload of a photo showing Keke as she cradled her baby bump, the storyteller announced on Sunday that he was the father. He captioned the post “2023” and ended it with a red heart emoji.
Later that Sunday, Keke shared shots from her SNL hosting. In the caption, she appreciated Darius, calling him her “other half” and thanking him for giving her things “only true unity can bring.”
The idea of Keke and Darius having a child together did not come as a surprise to fans. While they have kept the inner happenings in their relationship private, the couple went public in 2021.
This pregnancy, which would be her first, feels like “the biggest blessing” for the singer and TV personality who expressed excitement at her journey into motherhood.
