Cobra Kai Actress Calls Out Martin Kove After Assault

Alicia Hannah-Kim is breaking her silence after an unsettling moment with one of her Cobra Kai co-stars turned into a police matter. On June 29, Alicia took to Instagram with a message, just a week after filing a police report against Martin Kove. The 37-year-old actress revealed that she was bitten by Martin, 78, during an appearance at Summer Con in Washington.
In her video, Alicia thanked the fans who had reached out to her in the days following the incident. “I wanna come on here quickly and say hello and say thank you to everyone that has reached out to me in the past week,” she said, her voice steady. “I was really enjoying my time at Summer Con. I love meeting you guys in real life.”
But then she addressed the elephant in the room. “But as you can see, this was a serious incident,” she said. “No one wants to be attacked at work or anywhere, really. And I don’t think anybody would think this is normal, or wanted, or acceptable, and I just think that when you’re confronted with something like this, it’s good to stand up for yourself.”
According to the police report, Alicia was at the Cobra Kai booth on June 22 when Martin suddenly grabbed her arm and bit down so hard it nearly drew blood. After she cried out in pain, he reportedly kissed the same spot and told her he was “just playing.” However, Alicia said, “No, we do not play like that. I want to be very clear with witnesses. Martin, you think it’s funny to play with people. We are colleagues.”
Martin admitted to biting her and said he didn’t realize it would be taken seriously because they were usually playful on set. In his public apology, he called Alicia “a genuinely kind and wonderful person” and said, “I was being playful in the moment but went too far and there is absolutely no excuse for my behavior.”
Alicia, in her video, made it clear that the incident doesn’t reflect the overall experience she’s had with Cobra Kai. “And I also want to express that this does not represent my experience with the show at large,” she explained, adding, “I think everybody can tell that it’s a really good vibe and great cast, and everybody else is delightful. So I don’t want this to affect your love for the show. And you know, feel free to love on it as hard as you want.”
